Missing

ECCENTRIC RODS STORED OFF LOCOMOTIVE From CA of 11/10/2004 by Dave Elliott: Yes - Missing portions of valve gear, PRS valve chest oiler, PRS outer oil cup lid (crosshead guide bar), no grates, pilot is wooden replacement,headlamp and support are fake. Note: Eccentric rods and eccentric straps found on mezzanine at 2495 Lancaster Road. They have temporary catalogue numbers A-44 (1-4) on red tags. There are also white tags that read 67401 (1-4) and Property of National Museum 40. These parts look appropriate for locomotive 40 and measure the correct length. The note on the tag pretty well confims that they are indeed loco 40's rods. Unfortunately, we have still not been able to locate the eccentrics and we have no positive leads as to where to look. Paul Bown and I (Dave Elliott) conducted a search of all warehouses on Thursday 17/02/2011and did not find them or the valve gear for CN locomotive #247. Nor did we find the connecting rods for CN loco #6200. These additional parts were searched for at the same time, as we were already in search mode. The parts found have been relocated to storage between the rails of the inner panel track at 2495, in preparation for treatment and eventual return to the artefact proper.
