Introduced in 1959, the Nikon F quickly became a favourite of photojournalists and other professionals in Canada and elsewhere due to its reliability, robust construction and wide selection of high-quality lenses and accessories. The Nikon F was largely responsible for transforming the reputation of the Japanese camera industry, which in the years after the Second World War had been widely derided for cheap and shoddy products. The Nikon F remained in production till 1974.
