Period: 1930's to 1978 by Mr. George Masaru Kitamura (donor), who purchased it new.
Canada: Important example of application of a highly popular duplicator model to small business & Japanese Canadian cultural community. Its owner, Mr. Kitamura, came to Vancouver in 1925, was sent to WWII relocation camp, later moved to Toronto. He used Gestetner to produce advertising for his stores & other material (see S.I.)
Function: Replacement tube of ink for a duplicator machine.
Technical: Model 3 was introduced 1902 & discontinued in 1950. It was perhaps most recognizable Gestetner model of 20th century & was representative of "modern" office.

Markings: On the label: "Gestetner/ 217/ MADE IN ENGLAND 14 FL. OZ. [R] REGD. TRADE MARK"/ On the proper left and proper right sides, moulded in raised letters in the foam: "Gestetner"
Missing: Appears complete
Finish: White polystyrene foam box with an off-white and black label on the proper front and a black cap showing through the bottom. Most of the polystyrene box is covered in a transparent colourless synthetic film.
