MODERN EXAMPLE OF A BIRTHING CHAIR, USED TO SUPPORT A WOMAN WHILE GIVING BIRTH IN AN UPRIGHT POSITION. THIS POSITION IS FAVOURED BY MANY WOMEN, AS IT REDUCES PRESSURE ON THE BACK AND ALLOWS GRAVITY TO ASSIST THE DOWNWARD MOVEMENT OF THE BABY THROUGH THE BIRTH CANAL.
