Designed for use with Sony AV-3400 portable record/playback videocorder (see 2002.0560). The recorded picture could be immediately played back and viewed on the camera viewfinder screen, which was equipped with a magnifier lens. It used a 2/3-inch vidicon tube to pick up the image and convert it to a standard black & white video signal. - Area Notes

- "SONY" printed on plate fixed above built-in microphone. "SONY VIDEOCORDER" printed on plate fixed to both sides of camera body. "1187" stencilled in black on both sides of camera body. Yellow and silver decal applied to one side of camera body reads " [Ontario provincial logo] Ministry of Education/ 007356". "1187/ 2072" crudely incised on opposite side. Insert plate on camera body reads "SONY VIDEOCAMERA/ AVC-3400 DC 12V NO. 32758/ SONY CORP. TOKYO JAPAN". "900-111-161" [or 191-111-006" crudely incised on underside of camera body. Decal with ISO logo also present on underside.
