Canada: The ARO telescope was constructed in the early 1960s by the National Research Council. NRC operated the facility until ca. 1993 at which point management was assumed by NR Can for geodetic work but the telescope was finally decommissioned in 2007.

Technical: In 1968 is was linked with the radio telescope at the Dominion Astrophysical Radio Observatory to become the first long base line interferometer in the world.
