Example of hearing aid worn in Canada in 1950s. - Function

To amplify tones for individual to hear. - Technical
-
Example of a hearing aid which could be clipped to the pocket, or elsewhere on the user's clothing. It is relatively small because it used the newly introduced transistor [c. 1952]. An earphone would be attached to this unit, by means if a fine cord/cable. In the history of hearing aids it follows the vacuum tube amplifiers and precedes the one-piece units which were small enough to be worn behind the ear. [Ref. 1] - Area Notes
