- Markings
- "No. 1 KEYSTONE DRY CELL BATTERY/ MANUFACTURED BY/ WHITALL, TATUM & CO./ NEW YORK PHILADELPHIA BOSTON" printed on label fixed to underside of lid. "NO. 1 KEYSTONE", "WHITALL, TATUM & Co." and "21" stamped into front inside edge of case. Connection points labelled [from left to right] "P 1", "2", and "3 N". UHN catalogue no. "981.29.1J" printed by hand in white ink on case back.

- Dry-cell battery missing from apparatus at time of cataloguing by CSTM staff. Clasp from latch on case front is missing.
- Finish
- Medium brown wood box; dull silver metal hardware on exterior; bright silver metal [nickel-plated ?] fittings inside case act as connection points and/or secure accessories; black moulded synthetic crank handle; black coated covering on coil winding; winding mounted on wooden end posts; bright purple textured paper lining and red paper label fixed inside lid.
