Canada: The hair dryer was a gift to the donor's mother.
Function: Used to remove moisture from a person's hair by means of ventilaltion and heat.
Technical: Oster started to produce hair dryers in May 1949 to diversify its product line. This dryer was made sometime in the 1970s. The patent was filed in 1965, and in 1971, the company changed its name from John Oster Manufacturing to Oster Corporation, the name which appears on the donated appliance.
