By the end of the 1960s, the snowmobile had captivated the interest of outdoor enthusiasts and became its own form of leisure. Snowmobiling was born when thousands of people were traveling on snow-covered roads, trails and fields. However, the rising number of riders that would trespass onto private properties, the rising number of accidents as well as preoccupations concerning noise and pollution soon gave the sport a dangerous and negative reputation. The growing interest in snowmobiles and the negative feedback from the public encouraged the creation of organized clubs and the formation of an approved system of trails. The “Club des Sentiers 4 saisons “ was formed in 1971 by snowmobile enthusiasts that lived in the Barkmere municipality in the Laurentides region in Quebec. Le popularity surrounding snowmobiles allowed the club to get established quickly and develop a network of trails to neighbouring municipalities.
Function
This type of badge and sticker was worn on a snowmobile suit or stuck onto the snowmobile to display one's participation in the "Club des sentiers 4 saisons".
Technical
The value of the badge resides in the fact that it represents an important moment in technological history and Canadian culture. In fact, the snowmobile was established as transportation technology and is largely associated with Canada. This lot represents a critical moment in the evolution of the snowmobile that got transformed from a disorganized and free-for-all sport to an organized and safer form sport.
