- War record - Polymer Rubber Corporation - Sarnia, Ont. - at the publicly owned Polymer Corporation synthetic rubber plant near Sarnia, Ontario, the ingredients of butyl and buna-S rubber actually flow together, and the lated, or liquid rubber, flows into giant driers. Here is seen a pattern of the 125 miles of medium and large pipes that circle the 185 acre plant. The three Horton spheres shown are for storing a mixture of butylene and butadiene. (Butadiene is obtained from the hydrocarbon, butylene). In the background can be seen the five chimneys of the steam and power house, largest of its kind in Canada, which supplies the energy for the plant. The long thin toweraflame at the top burns excess gas at s safe altitude.
