- A quiet evening at home for the Fred Sloman's disturbed only by the hiss of the gas lampor or the eery howl of a wolf far off in the Canadian wilds. While parked out on a siding off the main Canadian National Railway line they have nature at their door. Bears and deer wander nearby and peer questionably at the little school house and its occupants. The rail line and its small clusters of houses at the rail stops are the only breaks in the vast Ontario bushland.
