BOXES USED TO SHIP 1 LB OF BEES FROM A BEE SUPPLIER TO A BEE KEEPER. SOLD BY WEIGHT, THE BEES WERE SHIPPED BY POST OR RAIL EXPRESS, IN THE SPRING (THE BOXES HAVING BEEN MADE BY THE BEE SUPPLIER OVER THE WINTER). ONCE FILLED, THE TOP HOLE WAS SEALED WITH A CORK HELD IN PLACE BY MELTED BEESWAX. INDIVIDUAL BOXES WERE ATTACHED TO A 6' LONG 1"X2" BOARD, TOP & BOTTOM. (REF. 1) - Area Notes
