The Yankauer Mask was designed by Sidney Yankauer (1872-1932), an ear, nose, and throat specialist who practiced medicine at the Mount Sinai Hospital in New York. Dr. James Tayloe Gwathmey (1862-1944) modified the Yankauer Mask to administer oxygen with the anesthetic. - Area Notes
