ALCOCK'S CHLOROFORM INHALER WAS 1ST ACCURATELY CALIBRATED PLENUM VAPORIZER WITH A WATER JACKET AND THE ABILITY TO COMPENSATE FOR CHANGES OF TEMPERATURE. IT WAS SUPERIOR TO IT'S CONTEMPORARY, THE HARCOURT INHALER. AIR WAS SUPPLIED TO THE DEVICE BY MEANS OF A FOOT BELLOWS: A PUMP, FAN, ETC. COULD ALSO BE USED. (REF. 3) - Area Notes
