Technical: WHILE NOT UNLIKE EARLIER BRASS WITH WOOD FILLED FRIM GALLEYS IN STYLE, JAMES WESTMAN BASED HIS PATENT ON HIS METHOD OF MANUFACTURE. RATHER THAN MITERING AND BENDING THE GALLEY RIM TO FORM A RIGHT ANGLE, WESTMAN CUT OUT A SQUARE SECTION AND BENT THE RIM TO FORM WHAT HECONSIDERED TO BE A MORE SUCCESSFUL RIGHT ANGLE.
