An example of a snow science instrument reported to come from the Atmospheric Environment Service of Environment Canada and used for sampling ground snow load and runoff to lakes and rivers, then acquired, used, and possibly subsequently modified by the NRC for sampling snow on roof surfaces. Finish

A grey painted wooden case with a two metal latches on its front end. The case opens up with the help of a hinged metal spine along is back. The front has a synthetic handle and metal fasteners. Two metal rings (one on either end of the case) hold a fabric strap that can be used for transporting the case. Metal clips are visible throughout the inside of the box to help fasten the various pieces it is designed to hold. Une boite peinturé grise en bois avec deux loquets en métal sur sa face. L'étui ouvre avec l'aide d'un dos qui est une charnière en métal. Le devant a aussi une manche synthétique qui est fixée avec des attaches métalliques. Deux anneaux (un de chaque côté de l'étui) retiennent une sangle en tissu qui peut être utilisé pour transporter l'étui. Des pinces métalliques sons visible au travers l'intérieur de la boite qui aide a sécurisé les pièces pour le transport.
