Stephen K. Plume was a fellow in Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery at the University of Toronto, where he worked with several well-known Canadian surgeons such as William Bigelow. The instrument was given to Plume by the American vasular surgeon J.A DeWeese. Plume was a resident in surgery under DeWeese at the University of Rochester from 1970-1975. Stephen K. Plume travaillait dans le métier de chirurgie cardiovasculaire et thoracique à l'Université de Toronto entre 1975 et 1977. Il a travaillé avec plusieurs chirurgiens bien réputés, comme William Bigelow. L'objet a été donné à Plume par le chirurgien vasculaire américain J.A DeWeese. The exterior case is made primarily from brown leather. The case has brown stitching . The proper right side of the case has a small leather strap held by two metal rings that are now rusted. The front of the case has two metal clasps to close the cover of the case. Both clasps have noticeable rusts on them. The cover of the case has white text. Inside the case, the oscillotonometer is secured by multiple hinges screwed into the outside of the case. The dial of the oscillotonometer has a cream colored face with black text and a metal silver exterior. The oscillotonometer has glass covering the dial and a metal thumb screw. The item is connected to two rubber tubing (one red, one black) that leads to the double cuff. The cord is also connected to the rubber inflating bulb with valve. At the base of the oscillotonometer, there is a metal adjustable leak valve. The outside of the case has multiple metal screw covers, most of which are rusted. L'extérieur de l'étui est fabriqué principalement en cuir brun. L'étui a de la couture brune. Le côté droit de l'étui a une petite sangle en cuir qui est soutenu par deux anneaux en métal qui sont présentement rouillés. Le devant de l'étui a deux fermoirs en métal pour fermer l'étui. Les deux fermoirs ont aussi de la rouille. Le devant de l'étui de l'écriture blanche. À l'intérieur de l'étui, l'oscillotonomètre est retenu par plusieurs charnières visées à l'étui. Le cadran de l'oscillotonomètre est en couleur crème avec de l'écriture noire et un extérieur en métal argenté. L'oscillotonomètre a une couverture de verre qui recouvre le cadran et on y retrouve aussi une vise à oreilles. L'objet est connecté à deux tubes en caoutchouc (un rouge, un noir) qui est ensuite connecté à la double manchette. Les tubes sont aussi connectés à la valve de gonflage en caoutchouc. À la base de l'oscillotonomètre, on y retrouve une valve de fuite réglable. L'extérieur de l'étui a plusieurs couvertures de vises en métal et la plupart on de la rouille.
