The sign has been created by the Douglas Channel Watch for the April 2014 protests. The Watch is a grass-roots organization created to protect the natural environment of Douglas Channel from industrial developments. The Watch has been actively protesting against the impacts of the energy sector's infrastructure on the region for almost a decade, and has supported Haisla's court action against Enbridge. The Watch held a protest in April 2014, after winning a non-binding plebiscite in which 60% of the residents of the area voted against an Enbridge pipeline. L'enseigne a été fabriqué par le groupe " Douglas Channel Watch " pour les manifestations d'avril 2014. Ce groupe est un organisation de base crée pour protéger l'environnement naturel de la région de Douglas envers les développements industriels. Le groupe " Watch " est toujours en train de manifester contre les impacts causé par le secteur d'énergie sur la région pour près d'une décennie et appuie l'action en justice de le tribunal d'Haisla. Le groupe "Watch" a organisé une manifestation en avril 2014, après avoir gagné un plébisicite lorsque 60 % des résidents ont votés contre le pipeline Enbridge.

Technical

Enbridge Northern Gateway is a plan to build two pipelines from Bruderheim in Alberta to Kitimat in British Columbia to facilitate access to markets in Pacific Rim. An eastbound pipeline would carry LNG and related products, and a westbound pipeline would carry oil sand products. Although the project was strongly opposed by local residents, indigenous communities, and environmental groups, it has been approved by the federal government in June 2014 with 209 conditions. "Enbridge Northern Gateway" est un plan de construire deux pipelines de la ville Bruderheim en Alberta jusqu'à Kitimat en Colombie-Britannique pour facilité l'accès aux marchés du Pacifique. Un pipeline de direction est transporterait des gaz naturels liquéfié et autres produits et un pipeline direction ouest transporterait des produits des sables bitumineux. Malgré le fait que ce projet était majoritairement non-populaire par les résidents locaux, communautés indigènes et les groupes environnementaux, le projet a été approuvé par le gouvernement fédéral en juin 2014 avec 209 conditions.

Large corrugated plastic sign. The red portion of the plastic sign is screwed into the sheets of plywood with multiple grey metal screws and metal washers. The white portion of the plastic sign is also screwed into the plywood with mulitple grey metal screws. The text on the white portion of the sign is handwritten with a black marker. The text on the red portion of the sign has white text. Grande enseigne en plastique ondulé. La portion rouge du signe est visé dans une planche de bois contreplaqué avec plusieurs vises et des rondelles de métal. La portion blanche de l'enseigne est également visée dans une planche de bois contreplaqué avec plusieurs vis de métal. L'écriture sur la portion blanche est écrite à la main avec un marqueur noir et le texte sur la portion rouge est en blanc.
