This pendant was acquired for Energy: Power to Choose exhibition to show alternatives to children working for the coal mining industry. The goal of the exhibition was to tell stories associated with all available sources of energy, including coal. Ce pendentif a été acquis pour l'exposition Energy: Power to Choose pour démontrer les alternatives aux enfants qui travaillent dans l'industrie minière de charbon. Le but de l'exposition était de dire des histoires associées à toutes sources d'énergie disponible, incluant le charbon.

Technical

This pendant made from a piece of coal, was etched by young boys in the community of Morcá, in Colombia. The community supports itself with coal mining done by traditional techniques and with only rudimentary infrastructure. Making ornaments is an alternative form of employment for local boys who would otherwise work in the mine after school. The activity is supported by One World Projects, established in 1992, which imports and distributes fair trade objects from developing countries. Ce pendentif a été fabriqué d'une pièce de charbon, qui a été gravé par des jeunes garçons dans la communauté de Morcà, en Colombie. La communauté en question s'appuie elle-même avec l'industrie minière produite de techniques traditionnelles et l'infrastructure rudimentaire. La production d'ornement est une forme alternative d'emplois pour les garçons locaux qui normalement travailleraient dans la mine à charbon après l'école. Cette activité est appuyée par One World Projects, établis en 1992, qui importe et distribue des objets du commerce équitable des pays en développement.
