Function

Miniature sad iron base used to press flat and/or remove wrinkles from fabrics. Most likely used as a toy, but could be used as a functional iron for pressing ribbon, lace, and small articles of clothing such as baby clothes. Could also have been used during travel.

Technical

Example of early 20th century travel iron design and/or children’s toy. It featured a cover part and a heart. The heart would be heated on the stove, while the cover protected the ironer’s hand.
