This iron was originally sold to Mr. Louis J. Germain on April 3, 1946. It was subsequently purchased from Mr. Germain by Mr. Clifford Rogers, the husband of the donor, to apply wax to skis. The iron was never used to iron clothes in the Rogers' household. The Renfrew Electric and Refrigerator Co. Ltd. was created by Andrew Low. Low was a president of Renfrew Flour Mills, Renfrew Electric Products, the Renfrew Refrigerator Company, which consolidated at the beginning of the 20th century, the Renfrew Manufacturing Company and the British Canadian Export Company. The company produced the Canadian Beauty line of appliances. In 1952 Renfrew Electric and Refrigerator Company was purchased by J.R. Longstaffe Limited, but retained its name until 1959 when it was changed to the Renfrew Electric Company Limited. - Function
