Technical

Le premier moteur semi- hors bord fut introduit par Volvo en 1959 et les autres firmes telles Mercury et OMC ne tardèrent pas à en produire dès 1961. Le moteur semi hors-bord alliait les avantages du hors-bord et du en-bord soit la possibilité de lever le pied et la puissance. Comme le moteur est dans un compartiment fermé, il est moins bruyant. Chez Mercury, le pied de propulsion Alpha One a été mis sur le marché en 1986. Celui offert est donc de la première génération. (Deuxième génération de 1991 à 2003). Ce moteur était le premier semi hors bord produit à grande échelle. Il était doté d'un régulateur d'assiette XD (trim) qui diminue la pression aux joints d'étanchéité ce qui augmente sa durabilité. Il était de plus conçu avec des anodes de zinc contre la corrosion, un meilleur système de refroidissement, d'échappement et d'allumage électronique. Notre étude sur les moteurs de petites embarcations de plaisance au Canada avait démontrée la popularité du moteur semi hors-bord MerCruiser accompagné du pied AlphaOne auprès des consommateurs canadiens pour la période couvrant la fin des années 1980 jusque vers 1996.

Following text appears on portion of motor located inside boat body "merCruiser/ AlphaOne/ 4.3 Litre/ Thunderbolt Ignition/ Power Steering". Masking tape label applied to engine bears handwritten text "OC339885/ ENG. #". Decal, below, reads "merCruiser/ [registered trademark symbol]/ TRANSOM ASSEMBLY/ NO. OC547999/ MERCURY MARINE/ DIV. Unknown. Réparations effectuées: Remplacement d'un solenoid et du joint d'étanchéité (bellows) sur le tableau du bateau (transom) entre le pied et le moteur. L'hélice 2007.0066.003 est l'original: 2007.0066.002 est un remplacement.
