The sanitary appliance industry decided to offer coloured products starting in 1926. The colour red appeared around 1930 and Canadian sanitary manufacturers offered six different colours including this one which is known as T’ang red. The manufacturing company named Standard Sanitary & Dominion Radiator, Limited who made these coloured appliances changed its name to American-Standard in 1948. In Canada, the name became American-Standard Products (Canada) Limited with the last factory closing in 2015 in Winnipeg. This artifact embodies a time when the only 61% of Canadians had access to running water. According to Statistics Canada, 56% of Canadians had a flushable toilet and only 45% had a shower or a bath. L'industrie des appareils sanitaires réussit à rejoindre les autres industries en offrant des produits colorés à compter de 1926 et le rouge apparut vers 1930 et l'usine canadienne proposais six options comme couleur incluant le rouge T'ang. Used for sanitary purposes by supplying water for washing hands and removing dirt, bacteria, and accretions. Utiliser pour comme station sanitaire avec de l’eau pour laver, rincer et enlever des bactéries et des accumulations sur les mains.

Technical

Water exits a tap when a faucet is opened and then the water is caught in a bowl before making its way down to a sink trap thanks to gravity. The sink trap is connected to a wastewater pipe which removes the water by carrying it to a sewer line. De l'eau ressort du robinet quand le robinet de puisage est ouvert et l'eau accumule dans un bol avant de se retrouver à un siphon d'évier grâce à la gravité. Le siphon d'évier est connecté a un tuyau d'eau résiduaire qui enlève l'eau et l'apporte a une ligne d'égout.

A red ceramic sink with a metal tube extending out of its back. It has two white synthetic knobs and a metal drain as well as metal fasteners to fix it to a back wall. Un évier fait avec du matériel en céramique avec un tuyau en métal qui ressort de son dos. Il y a deux boutons d'évier faites avec du matériel synthétique et un égouttoir d'évier en métal. Il y a aussi des pièces de fixation en métal sur le dos de l'évier pour le sécuriser au mur.
