The Snowbirds aerobatic team is also known as the 431 Air Demonstration Squadron of the Canadian Forces. It came into existence in 1970-71. The aircraft its pilots were flying back then, and are still flying today, are the Canadian-designed and built Canadair CT-114 Tutor jet trainer. While the name Snowbirds was formally adopted in 1971, the team officially became the Canadian Forces Air Demonstration Team in January 1975 before becoming an actual squadron in April 1978. Between shows, this unit is stationed at Canadian Forces Base Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. As of mid 2017, the Snowbirds have performed on about 2 600 occasions, in Canada and also in the United States.

Technical
The donor completed two tours with 431 Air Demonstration Squadron of the Canadian Forces, a unit better known as the Snowbirds aerobatic team. His role on these tours was varied. He embarked on one tour as an aero engine technician, in 1985-86, and one as the crew chief in 1998-99.
