The Inspire 1 Pro was the first drone at CTV Edmonton to be used live on air in 2016 as an upgrade to the Phantom 2. It captured a live weather shot over the west end of Edmonton. Cam (the drone’s operator) believes this footage is also one of the first live drone shots ever used in Canada, and possibly North America. The success of CTV Edmonton in using this footage would eventually culminate in the purchase of a fleet of drones (starting in 2019 with the Mavic 2 Pro) and the training of two additional drone pilots between 2019 and 2022 to bring their total to three licensed drone pilots for the news station. Function

This strobing light was attached to the Inspire 1 Pro done used by CTV Edmonton. It functioned by emitting bursts of light at a specific rate per minute so its pilot could locate it at any time of day or night. It also ensured that the drone was visible to other aircraft. Ce phare stroboscopique était attaché à l'Inspire 1 Pro drone utilisé par CTV Edmonton. Il fonctionnait en émettant de la lumière a une certaine cadence par minute pour s'assurer que son pilote puisse le retrouver dans le ciel peu importe si c'était le jour ou la nuit. Technical

The Inspire 1 Pro came equipped with its own high-quality camera (previous models, like the Phantom 2, required the purchase of a GoPro). The Inspire 1 Pro camera captured stabilized 4K video and also permitted the use of exchangeable lenses. It also had the option of an additional hand controller, which meant that two camera operators could control the drone at once: a “pilot” controlling flight and a “camera operator” controlling video. This made the use of other features, like zoom, much easier to effectively control. The Inspire 1 Pro had more stable video connection with the ground hand controller, as well as permitted use of the drone over further distances. Most significantly, it could accommodate live video transmission. This made it an ideal candidate for news broadcasting and an obvious upgrade from the Phantom 2. Finish

A black synthetic base that is in the shape of an arch that is covered in Velcro. The proper left side of the artifact has a synthetic switch that is also black. The back of the artifact has a flat black synthetic door that is removable and reveals synthetic cables and a rechargable battery inside. The door has a small lip in its middle. On top of the strobe is a transparent cylinder made of synthetic material. Inside it is a silver metal component fastened by yellow synthetic material. This metal component has numbers and symbols written on it in black. Around the base of the cylinder is a yellow sticker with black lettering. Une base synthétique qui est de couleur noire et qui est en forme d'arche. En dessous de la base il y a du Velcro noire. Le bon côté gauche de l'objet a un interrupteur noire faite avec du matériel synthétique. Le dos de l'artefact a une porte noire synthétique qui est plate est amovible et qui peut relever une batterie rechargable et série de câbles synthétiques. La base de la porte a une lèvre au milieu. Sur le dessus de phare stroboscopique il y a un cylindre fait avec du matériel synthétique transparente. À l'intérieur il y a une composante faite en métal qui est de couleur argent qui est fixé avec un matériel synthétique de couleur jaune. La composante en métal à des numéros et des symboles dessus qui sont de couleur noire. Autour de la base du cylindre il y a un autocollant jaune avec un lettrage noir.
