The Inspire 1 Pro was the first drone at CTV Edmonton to be used live on air in 2016 as an upgrade to the Phantom 2. It captured a live weather shot over the west end of Edmonton. Cam (the drone’s operator) believes this footage is also one of the first live drone shots ever used in Canada, and possibly North America. The success of CTV Edmonton in using this footage would eventually culminate in the purchase of a fleet of drones (starting in 2019 with the Mavic 2 Pro) and the training of two additional drone pilots between 2019 and 2022 to bring their total to three licensed drone pilots for the news station. Function

Drone propellers are designed to create a mass of airflow that is greater than the force of gravity. This difference in force is caused when the top and bottom surfaces of the spinning propeller use the airflow to create a pressure difference and this allows the drone to leave the ground. Les pales d'hélices sont conçues pour créer un courant d'air qui a une masse plus forte que la gravité. La différence en force est causée quand les surfaces du dessus et dessous l'hélice utilise le courant d'air pour créer une différence en pression qui permet au drone de lever du sol.

Technical

The Inspire 1 Pro came equipped with its own high-quality camera (previous models, like the Phantom 2, required the purchase of a GoPro). The Inspire 1 Pro camera captured stabilized 4K video and also permitted the use of exchangeable lenses. It also had the option of an additional hand controller, which meant that two camera operators could control the drone at once: a “pilot” controlling flight and a “camera operator” controlling video. This made the use of other features, like zoom, much easier to effectively control. The Inspire 1 Pro had more stable video connection with the ground hand controller, as well as permitted use of the drone over further distances. Most significantly, it could accommodate live video transmission. This made it an ideal candidate for news broadcasting and an obvious upgrade from the Phantom 2. Ceci faisait en sorte que le drone était énormément plus facile à contrôler avec les tâches divisées. Le drone possédait aussi une connexion avec le sol et la télécommande supérieure aux anciens modèles et pouvait être utilisé pendant de plus longues distances de l'opérateur. L'amélioration le plus substantiel était sa capacité d'une transmission de vidéo en directe. Cette fonctionnalité lui faisait le candidat idéal pour les nouvelles ainsi que le choix évident pour remplacer sur le Phantom 2.

A propeller with two blades made out of black synthetic material. Two white arrows are visible on the middle portion of the propeller blade along with the manufacturing name. There are also markings on both blades. Beneath the middle of the propeller blade is a hollow center with a black synthetic foam in its middle. Une pale d’hélice avec deux lames faites avec un matériel synthétique noir. Deux flèches blanches sont visibles sur la portion du milieu de l’hélice ainsi que le nom du manufacturier. Il y a aussi des marques sur chaque pale. En dessous de la pale d’hélice le centre est creux et une mousse synthétique de couleur noir occupe l’espace.
