Technical

The original NRC "Talking Clock" which began service in Dec. 1954. The recording was made as a sound track, on photographic film. Photoelectric readers scanned the voice strips which were wrapped around the drum in grooves, one for each of the 24 hours & 60 minutes, & 2 for the preamble. [Ref 2] REplaced in 1960 by rented Audichron system (870958).
