Technical: By allowing the target material to rotate, a larger load could be employed: this in turn allowed a greater intensity of radiation to be produced in unit. The conventional rotating anode tube turns at approximately 3,600 r.p.m. and has been in widespread use since the 1940s. [Ref. 3]

Markings: "21944/00" and "670564" incised in tube base. " 4 4" stamped in black ink on base casing edge. "670564" printed by hand in white grease pencil on tube top. "803 Y" stamped into metal disc visible inside tube. "AM/ 3844" printed by hand in pencil on small off-white rectangular label applied to base. UHN catalogue no. "X969.496" printed by hand in black ink on underside of tube.
Missing: Unknown- appears complete.
Finish: Metal, synthetic and glass components. Cutaway tube base has red-brown moulded synthetic casing; lower portion of glass cover has yellow cast; silver metal components are visible within.
