Canada: L’objet se trouvait dans un vieux hangar sur une ferme laitière située dans les Cantons-de-l’est au Québec. Lorsque la ferme fut achetée par la famille Rodrigue en 1943, le beau-père de Mme Lamy, Viateur Rodrigue, était alors âgé de 9 ans. Il se souvient d’avoir vu l’objet ainsi que 3 autres colliers semblables accrochés dans le vieux bâtiment. La ferme était située à Highwater, lot 377 du Canton de Potton, comté de Brome, dans les Cantons-de-l’est. La famille Rodrigue venait de la Beauce et Paul Rodrigue, le père, avait acheté la ferme en 1943 de M. McNei Murphy qui lui-même en était propriétaire depuis 1917. Ce dernier avait acquis la ferme de M. James A. Skinner. Mme Lamy est l’épouse de Hugues Rodrigue, fils de Paul.
Function: To discourage the animal wearing it from pushing through fences.
Technical: Fait à la main par un forgeron. Un exemple d’ancien outil de retention pour animaux. Certains étaient en bois et le modèle variait. Ils ont été remplacés par les clôtures électriques qui existent depuis assez longtemps mais étaient peu utilisées en raison de leur défectuosité fréquente et leur coût élevé.
