Taken from curatorial worksheet: This breathing apparatus belonged to the Northwest Territories Workers' Safety and Compensation Commission. It was used throughout the Territories to train mine rescue personnel and to retrieve affected miners during accidents.

Mfr's plate reads "Drager-/ werk/ B/ RKD 400/ Modell BG 174/ Fabr. Nr. 44.10 [incised number] 1973 [number 3 is also incised]/ Pruf.NR.1[/]62/ Pz:. [blank]". Label beside mfr's plate "SAFETY SUPPLY/ COMPANY/ BRANCHES THROUGHOUT CANADA". Black print on canister has German and English print, English print reads "TOP", "9X18-28", 118" and Empty immediately after use!". Mfr's logo on bladder with "DRAGER" written in it. Handwritten print on bladder "CON 14/ 41".
