The sanitary appliance industry decided to offer coloured products starting in 1926. The colour red appeared around 1930 and Canadian sanitary manufacturers offered six different colours including this one which is known as T’ang red. The manufacturing company named Standard Sanitary & Dominion Radiator, Limited who made these coloured appliances changed its name to American-Standard in 1948. In Canada, the name became American-Standard Products (Canada) Limited with the last factory closing in 2015 in Winnipeg. This artifact embodies a time when the only 61% of Canadians had access to running water. According to Statistics Canada, 56% of Canadians had a flushable toilet and only 45% had a shower or a bath. L'industrie des appareils sanitaires réussit à rejoindre les autres industries en offrant des produits colorés à compter de 1926 et le rouge apparut vers 1930 et l'usine canadienne proposais six options comme couleur incluant le rouge T'ang. Function

The bolt cap or screw cover is used to conceal the bolt and nut that holds the toilet in place to the bathroom floor. Un cache-visse est conçu pour cacher le boulon et écrou qui tiens la toilette en place sur le plancher de la salle de bain.

Technical

A bolt extends through the base of the toilet and then a washer and nut are inserted over it to fasten it. A bolt cap or screw cover functions to hide those parts for aesthetic purposes to give the toilet a more streamlined look. Un boulon ressort de la base de la toilette pour qu'une rondelle et un écrou peuvent être insérés par-dessus pour le sécuriser au plancher. La cache-visse fonctionnes pour cacher ces pièces pour que la toilette soit plus esthétique.
