The Glo-Hill company was founded in Montreal around 1945 by two brothers in law named Jack Globus and Harry Hill. At the start of the 1950s, the production swelled and began to encompass carving sets and various steak knives. The company continued it success into the 1960s, and 70s where it began to offer chrome plated items such as platters, tea sets, saucers and more. The company changed its name to the Glo-Hill corporation with its newly found success. This type of item was a common gift for traditional weddings in Canada. Glo-Hill would eventually close its doors for good in 1979. The handles and accessories made of Bakelite were made directly in a factory that counted a total of 160 employees.
