This object offered to the corporation was mounted on a heavy bomber like the Avro Lancaster, a type of aircraft used by units of the Royal Canadian Airforce during and after the Second World War. In 422 Lancaster and eight aircrafts converted to commercial airplanes were produced in Canada during the war but Victorty Aircraft Limited from Malton / Toronto. Technical

The British Air Ministry used a classification system to describe each of the items installed in their aircrafts. For example, the category 5D corresponds to the "Bombing Equipment". The item 5D-565 is known as a "bomb selector". This item was most likely manufactured by Aircraft Patents Limited in London. The bomb selector panel was used to select the bombs that were to be dropped, and the release pattern. The switches on the front panel selected the bombs, which were then armed by operating either or both of the two fusing switches positioned next to the unit; one for the nose fuses, and one for the tail fuses.

Missing

A small component seems to be missing. There is a small hole on the top left portion of the panel. According to other similar models, it would appear that perhaps a small lightbulb or a small knob would of been installed in that small gap. Une petite composante n'y est pas présent. Sur le côté gauche du panneau, on y retrouve un petit trou. Selon les autres modèles similaires, on dirait qu'une petite ampoule ou un petit bouton aurait pu être installé dans ce trou.

Finish

Black metal rectangular bomb selector with twelve sixteen separate light grey toggle switches. Each switch is numbered from one to sixteen. The toggle switches have noticeable wear and tear and some discoloration. On the proper right side there is a silver rotating knob. On the top of the unit, there is a small transparent glass window that shows different messages (SAFE, SINGLE & SALVO, DISTRIBUTOR, CONTAINER) as you turn the knob. The bottom of the panel appears to be made primarily from cork-like wood. The bottom has a protective red film covering the cork wood. The panel has multiple different openings to fix and mount the panel inside an aircraft. The panel has multiple black and silver screws along the outside. There are two small brown wires outside the back of the panel. Un sélecteur de bombe rectangulaire en métal noir avec douze interrupteurs à bascule gris. Chaque interrupteur est énuméré d'un à seize. Le dessous du panneau est fabriqué en liège. On y retrouve aussi une couverture rouge par au-dessus du bois. Le panneau a différents trous pour sécuriser le panneau à l'intérieur d'un aéronef. Le panneau a plusieurs vises noirs et grises à l'extérieur. On y retrouve aussi deux petits fils brun derrière le panneau.
