CAE is a Canadian company that dates back to just after the Second World War. The development of the CAE Air1 Ventilator was in response to the Canadian government’s call to industry to contribute to the fight against COVID-19. This respirator was the first such technology to receive certification from Health Canada during the pandemic. This made-in-Canada ventilator is made up of over 500 parts which come from 130 Canadian suppliers and since then, the company has developed 8,200 ventilators. Le développement du CAE Air1 Ventilateur était une réponse aux demandes du gouvernement du Canada pour de l'aide à combattre la COVID-19. Ce ventilateur la première technologie à recevoir la certification de Health Canada durant la pandémie. Ce ventilateur est construit au Canada et comprends 500 pièces qui parvient de 130 fournisseurs canadiens. Depuis sa certification la compagnie a développé 8,200 ventilateurs.

Function

This artifact attached to a ventilator and performed as both a HEPA filter and an HME filter. These hoses helped created a breathing circuit for a patient and allowed for them to both inhale and exhale. Cet artefact était attaché a un ventilateur et fonctionnais comme deux types de filtres pour créer un circuit respiratoire pour un patient. Les tuyaux aidaient le patient à inspirer et expirer avec un filtre HEPA et un filtre HME.

Technical

The unique feature of the Air1 ventilator is the large touch-screen display. The large display allows for the data to be read and recorded by medical personnel from further away and does not require entry into the patient’s room, saving PPE and staff time. The Air1 also uses either room air or pressurized oxygen, an important factor in the event of a shortage in the latter. La caractéristique unique du ventilateur Air1 est qu'il y a un affichage a écran tactile très large. L'écran dune telle taille permet pour la lecture des données et l'enregistrement de ces données par la personnelle médicale d'une distance supérieure. Ceci fait en sorte que la personnelle n'a pas besoin de rentrer dans la chambre d'un patient et ça gagne du temps ainsi que des ressources de EPI. Le Air1 utilise soit de l'air ambiant ou de l'oxygène sous pression. Ceci est très pratique comme caractéristique s'il y a un manque d'oxygène sous pression.

Two white synthetic tubes that are ribbed and are connected at one end by an adapter piece made of the same colour and material. One hose has a circular synthetic adapter head that has a yellow sponge inside of it and an orange base. The other adapter head is the same shape but has a white filter inside of it along with the same orange synthetic base. Deux tuyaux faits avec un matériel synthétique de couleur blanche. Les tuyaux son rigati et ils sont tenus ensemble avec un morceau adaptatrice qui est fait avec le même matériel. Un tuyau a une tête adaptatrice qui est circulaire et qui a une éponge de couleur jaune à l'intérieur de la tête adaptatrice. L'autre tuyau a la même sorte de tête, mais ils contiennent un filtre de couleur blanche à l'intérieur de la tête adaptatrice. Les deux têtes adaptatrices ont une base synthétique de couleur orange pour leur brancher aux tuyaux.
