This plaque was given by M. Terry Kell to the Canadian science and technology museum on October 2nd 2008. Terry Kell did so in order to show appreication to the museum for its participation at the event "L'Art et l'automobile" in Ogden, Quebec, near Stanstead. This was the place of origin of Henry Seth Taylor's steam powered car.
Function
To commemorate an important artifact within the technological history of Canada.
Technical
The granite used in this plaque came from South Africa. The image on the plaque was ingraved based off a picture of the vehicle taken by photographer Paul Dymel. The image was ingrave by laser by a machine called CNC. The CNC machine is computer operated. Prior to the use of lasers, the engraving on granite would be done by vibrating or rotary tools. The CNC laser machine uses an intense ray of light to complete the work. This new technology allows for a more precise work and final product.
