This artifact was donated to the museum by a Canadian. It was purchased at the Great Glebe Garage Sale in the spring of 2012 by the donor. L'objet était un don au musée par un Canadien qui a acheté l'artefact au Great Glebe Garage Sale (Marché au puces) au printemps de 2012.

Technical

The 645S comes with a 9-inch screen. The screen is mounted on a support attached to the right or left side of the 645S. The screen can be adjusted by rotating it. The keyboard on the 645S is similar to that of a standard typewriter. This word processor’s printer consisted of a printwheel and ribbon cartridge located inside the carrier. This word processor’s operations are programmed by a selection of 8-inch floppy disks that contain prerecorded instructions for various tasks. The 645S also included Recording Disks which were used to record typing. When an instruction disk was inserted, it was automatically “read” by the 645S. This process is referred to as “loading” the disk. Documents recorded on these disks can be printed, changed, and erased. The keyboard on the 645S is similar to that of a standard typewriter. Finish

A beige synthetic box shaped artifact with grey and black synthetic keys. A beige synthetic monitor with a glass screen sits atop its proper right side. Below the monitor sits a flat plastic tray. A black synthetic knob is present on either side of the artifact and attached to it with a metal attachment. A Rolodex of black paper reference cards sits on the proper left side of object. The back of the artifact has both a manufacturing plate and a synthetic black power supply cable. A grey synthetic cable with a metal fastener also extends from the back of the monitor. Une boite de couleur beige construit en matériel synthétique avec des clés du clavier qui sont noires et grises et aussi faite avec un matériel synthétique. Un moniteur de la même couleur et composition a aussi un écran en verre et est situé sur le bon côté droit de l'objet. En dessous du moniteur il y a un plateau en plastique. Un bouton noir en matériel synthétique de chaque côté de l'objet est fixé avec un attachement en métal. Un fichier Rolodex en papier de couleur noire pour des cartes de références est positionné sur le bon côté gauche de l'objet. Au dos de l'artefact il y a un câble alimentation noir en matériel synthétique aussi. Un câble synthétique de couleur grise avec un morceau de fixation en métal ressort du dos du moniteur.
