The sanitary appliance industry decided to offer coloured products starting in 1926. The colour red appeared around 1930 and Canadian sanitary manufacturers offered six different colours including this one which is known as T’ang red. The manufacturing company named Standard Sanitary & Dominion Radiator, Limited who made these coloured appliances changed its name to American-Standard in 1948. In Canada, the name became American-Standard Products (Canada) Limited with the last factory closing in 2015 in Winnipeg. This artifact embodies a time when the only 61% of Canadians had access to running water. According to Statistics Canada, 56% of Canadians had a flushable toilet and only 45% had a shower or a bath. L'industrie des appareils sanitaires réussit à rejoindre les autres industries en offrant des produits colorés à compter de 1926 et le rouge apparut vers 1930 et l'usine canadienne proposais six options comme couleur incluant le rouge T'ang. A group of sink hardware used for controlling the flow of water as well as plugging a sink and possibly for helping to fasten it. This hardware includes an aerator to control water pressure, a sink plug, a sealer and an insert, as well as washers, and a bolt and a nut. Un ensemble d'accessoires pour un évier qui lui permet de contrôler l'écoulement d'eau avec un aérateur ainsi qu'une bouche-évier pour accumuler de l'eau au fond du robinet. Un scellant et un encart aide à s'assurer de ne pas avoir un robinet qui fuit. L'ensemble inclut aussi des boulons et des rondelles et en écrou pour aider à sécuriser l'évier au mur.

Finish

A threaded metal bolt with two large washers and one small one is held together with one bolt. A metal sink plug has a circular head with three arms running along its body. A black synthetic sealer is rectangular in shape. A white synthetic aerator is circular in size and has a small metal mesh on its front. A grey synthetic insert is circular in shape and has teeth along its circumference. Un boulon en métal fileté avec deux grosses rondelles et une petite qui sont tenues en place avec un écrou. Une bouche-évier en métal a une tête circulaire et trois bras le long de son corps. Un scellant noir synthétique est rectangulaire. Un aérateur blanc est circulaire et fait avec du matériel synthétique. La tête de l'aérateur a un grillage métallique sur sa tête. Un encart gris fait avec du matériel synthétique à des dents sur sa circonférence.
